Via Frequent Miler’s Quick Deals (and originally The Flight Deal), there are some really good deals on domestic flights on American Airlines / US Airways going on right now. Â Some examples:
Boston to Los Angeles for $75 one-way (or $150 round trip)
Also I saw Chicago to Los Angeles or Dallas for only $41 one-way or $80 roundtrip on several dates in the August / September / October timeframe. Â I was using Google Flights to be able to find the deals. Â Just pick some city combinations and play around with the dates.
The best deal that I saw was Boston-Los Angeles for $150 roundtrip, which nets 5,593 flown miles and since American has not yet moved to a revenue system, that would net you that many miles, and is a cost of 2.68 cents per mile.
I wouldn’t classify these as “mistake fares”, but the same rules apply – these flights were all available as of the writing of this post but most if not all of the dates are going to be gone in a matter of hours if not minutes.

You could also book these with Citi ThankYou Points – as I understand it, if you have the Citi Prestige card, you get 1.8 cents of value, so the $150 fare would only cost 8333 ThankYou Points and turn into 5593 American Airlines miles, depending on the fare classes and your elite level.
Good luck if you want to book any of these flight deals!

1.6 cents for TYP attached to a Citi Prestige, or 9375 points per $150 roundtrip. Definitely a great deal for anyone who can use some of these, or to tack on enough EQM to hit the next status level!
We just got back from ten days in Chicago thanks to your tip in this article. My husband and I jumped on the low airfare ($80 per person, nonstop, round trip) from LAX to ORD and used our Capital One Venture travel credit to cover the cost for us and our five kids. We used points to stay in a Hyatt. What a great city! We had so much fun. Thanks for posting. It’s nice to know other big families that like to travel!
Wow! That’s so awesome and it made me feel so good that I played a small part in your vacation! If you ever need anything else or have any questions, definitely email me – I’m always happy to help!
