Hyatt has launched a global promotion where World of Hyatt members can earn bonus points for night stayed between registration and November 30, 2018. Hyatt bills the promotion as the ability to earn up to two free nights anywhere (60,000 Hyatt points), but you have to completely maximize the promotion to earn this.
Hyatt’s tiered promotion
Like other Hyatt promotions we’ve seen, the bonus points awarded under the current promotion are on a tiered system. You earn bonus points at the 5-night mark, then after a cumulative 10 nights, 20 nights, 30 nights, and 40 nights.
The cumulative return pre night increases the more nights you stay. At the 5-night level, the return is a modest 500 points per night. At a cheap Hyatt Place of Hyatt House, this is similar to earning 2x points. As you stay more nights, the total bonus increases substantially. If you stay the full 40 nights, you will effectively earn an extra 1,500 points per night.
What counts as an eligible night?
Glad you asked. The wording is poor in the terms and conditions, but it appears that you can earn the bonus from both paid night and award nights. Verbatim: “For the purpose of this promotion, an “Eligible Night” is defined as any night where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award for at least one night of their stay.”
What’s weird to me is “or redeems a free night award for at least one night of their stay.” This implies that redeeming a free night award for one night should count as a night. Hyatt could have written that a bit better. My gut tells me both cash nights and award nights count. I’ve reached out to Hyatt to clarify.
To register for the promotion, it seems all you have to do is click through the email. It’s a 1-click registration. You must register by October 15.
Are you looking to earn some extra Hyatt points between now and the end of September?
