If I had a list of must-have items or essential items for my travels, I make sure I travel with one carryon luggage, and I couple that with a backpack. It’s important for the backpack to hold my laptop and have enough pockets for me to load my essentials (charging cables, noise-cancelling headphones, HydroFlask) and a few other items.
One of my favorites is this backpack made by Eddie Bauer. It’s packable, inexpensive, bottomline, it works. I was able to pack this with my essentials, and the backpack fits under the airplane seat. When I’m not traveling, I use this around town as well. It’s part of my daily gear.
What’s the deal

- Eddie Bauer 30L Packable Pack
- Regular price $40, sale price $20 (compare at Amazon)

EDITED: It appears that the code FRESH is no longer valid as of Aug 28, Tuesday afternoon. The $15 price, IMO, is still a very good deal. That’s the price I actually paid when I bought mine 2-3 years ago. You could try and use a cashback portal (i.e. cashbackmonitor.com, etc.) and you could find other ways to bring the price down.

I have two of these backpacks (a black and olive green color). I’ve traveled with these backpacks all over the world, and have not had an issue. For as low as $10.50, I couldn’t go wrong. Let me know if you plan on going for this deal. Good luck.

The price is higher than you showed. Not a huge difference, but the $14 one shows as $20. Just a FYI.
Thanks for the update. This morning, the code FRESH worked, and now it looks like they have it down to $15.
I’m still showing it as $20? The code doesn’t seem to have any effect.
The 30L is now showing on sale at $20, the 20L is now showing on sale at $15. The post had been updated to reflect the price change. You could try and use a cashback portal (i.e. cashbackmonitor dot com, etc.) and you could find other ways to bring the price down.
Great tip! I may be flying on cheap tix but I’ll be flying looking good.
Awesome! Did you get the 20L or the 30L?
the code does not work. 15 for 20L and 20 for 30L stay after the code.
It appears that the code is no longer valid as of yesterday afternoon. The $15 price, IMO, is still a very good deal. That’s the price I actually paid when I bought mine 2-3 years ago. You could try and use a cashback portal (i.e. cashbackmonitor dot com, etc.) and you could find other ways to bring the price down. I will update the post.
Just to check, thew 30L is ok to fit in most airlines schemes as a carryon? Thanks, Grant
Grant, good question. For US carriers, and even international carriers that I’ve flown, they didn’t really check the size of my personal item (backpack for instance). I can tell you that the 20L that I have never gave me trouble. I think as long as your personal item is not obnoxiously huge, you should be fine.
