I got an offer in my email offering a 3 day / 2 night stay at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa, located in Bonita Springs Florida about 20 minutes north of Naples on the Florida Gulf Coast

a pool surrounded by trees

The 3 day / 2 night stay costs $240 and includes

  • Accommodations at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa
  • VIP access to the amenities of Hyatt Residence Club, Bonita Springs, including waterfall, relaxation pools and Alligator Alley lazy river
  • Daily resort fee included
  • 10,000 Bonus World of Hyatt Points

Targeted?

I am not sure if these are targeted or not.  My email suggests that you call 844-770-2582 to “take advantage” of this deal.

When I called, the agent could not find this offer located on my account (though she said there were many people who shared my name), but did find a similar Hyatt Key West timeshare offer.  She also said that you could take a $100 resort credit in lieu of the 10,000 World of Hyatt points (I’d take the points myself)

The catch

The catch on this offer is that you will have to attend a timeshare presentation, where sales reps try to “encourage” you to buy a timeshare.  Or, as they put it, “Simply join us for a personalized tour and presentation of Hyatt Residence Club and discover unprecedented vacation privileges and unique experiences with our distinguished collection of resorts”

Needless to say, DO NOT BUY A TIMESHARE AT RETAIL.  I can think of very few instances where it would be a good idea to buy a timeshare at all, and certainly not at retail.  If you’re interested at all in getting a timeshare, look on the secondhand market where you can usually get it for pennies on the dollar.

Has anyone ever taken advantage of this Hyatt Bonita Springs Coconut Resort timeshare offer?  Or a similar one?  What has your experience been?  Leave it in the comments
