IHG has been running its Accelerate promotion now nearly every quarter for a couple years. The promotion is always a new twist on the same old formula: hand out pseudo-random offers to program members where they have specific criteria to meet to get all the points.
Sometimes these offers are good (SEE: Looking to maximize my killer IHG Accelerate offer in early 2018). Sometimes they are not worth a second glance (SEE: Accelerating into a wall: our two pathetic Q2 2017 IHG promos).
IHG added a Kimpton offer
In case you weren’t aware, IHG has finally merged Kimpton hotels fully into their system. You can now book Kimpton hotels using IHG points, although most require between 45,000 and 60,000 points per night. But, given that Kimpton properties have some character and are renowned for their service, they may be a great choice.
Now IHG is trying to entice people to give the brand a try by offering 10,000 IHG points after one stay. My guess is that this offer was presented to all IHG members (but I don’t know for sure):
I checked my accelerate dashboard, and while my other points have now posted, the Kimpton offer is nowhere to be found. Not sure if they will actually add it?
Is the offer worth it?
In my opinion, the offer is not worth pursuing just for the points. The 10,000 IHG points are worth about $60 by my valuation, so the return isn’t all that incredible. And IHG keeps on gutting their program (SEE: 3 reasons why IHG doesn’t have a REAL loyalty program).
But, if you have a Kimpton stay planned already, definitely take advantage of this offer. The promotion is valid on all stays from now through April 30, 2018.
