As we discussed yesterday, IHG has announced a preview of the list of Point Breaks for February through April 2018. You can book these Point Breaks hotels from January 29th through April 30th
Up until now, all IHG Point Breaks hotels were 5000 points per night, but as we said yesterday, IHG has now said that hotels on the PointBreaks list will range from 5000 to 15000 points.

Appears to be a ripoff. Vernal Utah should be about 5000 points per night or less. There is nothing in Vernal. And Fargo, ND? 15K? Let’s get real – it’s FARGO NORTH DAKOTA.
Seems like the list has many inconsistencies with a few good options here and there.
There’s a cat1 Marriott in Vernal all year round (7.5k). Funny that PB is worse than competitor’s regular price now.
Ha! With way worse Accelerate offers and now this, it surely seems like there’s no real point in getting IHG points any more. Kind of like Club Carlson a few years ago
Yes – the Fargo one was the one I found most hilarious. Nobody’s getting excited about going to Fargo (even half off) in the middle of winter!
So there is a correlation between normal price and PB price.
It seems like it, but it’s not exact
IHG points devaluated. Before there were good options for 5000 points. The maximum points per night were 50,000 in the best hotels. Now I see hotels with 60,000. So we are getting less for our points. I am Spire member so usually get room upgrade and late checkout up to 4pm. That’s the only reason I keep going with IHG. But since last year I started diverting to other loyalty programs. I’ll do the same this year but start earlier to be able to reach higher level in them too. Plus never believe in their “Lowest price guarantee”. I tried to claim one last year and their customer service came back with a mixture of pure lies and ridiculous arguments only not give 1 free night. Loyalty should be from both sides and apparently IHG does not understand that. As a result I cancelled all my upcoming reservations with them and opened my eyes for other loyalty programs (Thank you IHG customer service).
Actually the highest IHG hotels are now 70,000 points! And of course the BRGs are a scam, and now they don’t even give a free night
Generally the full list comes out for preview before the actual ‘book’ date. Any chance of getting that complete list now?
Only if IHG releases it, which they haven’t. I’ll publish it as soon as I have it
Comment regarding not giving a free night?…..do you mean the anniversary free night? Has that changed as well? I have just earned the free night.
Mary Lou – I don’t understand your question. AFAIK nothing has changed regarding the free night from the IHG card
I just signed up for an IHG credit card. Looks like a mistake. I’ve been a rewards member for year and have enjoyed Points Breaks several times. Guess I’ve been lucky in that I’ve usually used nights on vacations in the mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. To me, the new program sucks and the list of hotels is ridiculous. One listing in any point class for Georgia, one for Florida, none for Tennessee, none for Kentucky. For this Customer, IHG has ruined what was a great program. Color me unimpressed and disappointed.
Wonder if IHG could have screwed up in posting the list? I noticed the 10K list starts with Alabama, then Arizona, Arkansas, etc. Yet the 5K and 15K lists start with Illinois. Looks fishy.
Wow, there goes my loyalty. I used to love for the PBs to come out and plan a road trip with the family. Now, not too exited to drive out of my way to book a 15k point room.
