A few months ago, I wrote about Farefetch, a site where people can submit fare requests and anyone (like you) can sign up to fulfill the requests if you find a fare that meets their parameters. One unique thing with Farefetch is that they not only allow but encourage you to potentially use your own miles and points to fulfill the other person’s fare request. Some interesting requests
I had signed up to be a Farefetch “fetcher”, and over the past few days I’ve gotten a few requests. The very first FareFetch request I got was a reasonable request: LAX-ORD for $198. I actually found a flight for that one (on Spirit!) but I was not the first to respond so I didn’t get the deal.
But then we got this one, from Las Vegas to a smaller city in Colombia (i.e. not Bogota)
Let’s set aside that $319 is an awesome price to get from the US to Colombia, this person is only “okay” with non-stop or 1-stop service, which is (as far as I could tell) LITERALLY NOT POSSIBLE!
Well now they’re just trolling
The last few have been patently ridiculous.
Moscow to Berlin in business class for TWO DOLLARS?!? Well at least he’s flexible enough that he’s willing to fly from any of the 3 Moscow airports… 🙂
If Farefetch doesn’t put something into place to weed out ridiculous flight requests, I can see many people dumping them.
I’m not 100% sold on their business model, especially the part about using your miles to book other people’s flights. That’s something that is unsustainable, rife for abuse, and likely to be either shut down by Farefetch or get people banned by their frequent flier mile program of choice

Their response to me today when I commented on the absurdity of this morning’s $2 requests was…less than stellar. Maybe actually fix this situation? I don’t see FareFetch lasting.
There were two different ones for $2. I understand people getting on there clowning but looks like they wouldn’t send out a request like that.
It has been sad, that they are letting these ridiculous requests go out to us like that in the raw form.

I’m a travel agent, and like all other travel agents, I’m always looking for more people to help book flights at good prices. I emailed them today about the problems everyone is talking about and got a great response. They said they just launched last week and are working on a way to fliter through all the bad requests…. I’m sure they’ll fix it.
Has anyone actually booked a flight yet? With most e-mails, I respond within 3-4 mins and then nothing. The $2 trips, yeah that’s crazy.
If they hadn’t thought about this prelaunch, what kind of minds are behind it? I’m deleting it. Complete waste of time.
I have responded to many, many farefetch requests with low or lower fares. I have never ever gotten a response from them. I think this is a fake site.
