I like maps.  I really like maps. You may have seen some of the map related items on my travel bucket list, or followed along as I try to visit all 3,143 counties in the United States (I’m about 40% of the way there!)

So I enjoyed reading this New York Times article from a few years ago about the most distinct Thanksgiving recipe searches in each state.  It wasn’t the most POPULAR recipe (which was Turkey in every state), but instead the recipe that was searched most in that state compared to the national average.

My first thought for Ohio (where I live) was Buckeye balls (mmmm), but apparently Ohio is most famous for “dirt pudding”, which is a chocolate pudding with crushed Oreos on top (and sometimes gummy worms for extra authenticity). Though Michigan’s “cheesy potatoes” are another big hit at our house.
