Dans Dealschase-freedom-bonus-categories-2015-freedom-logo alerted me to the fact that Chase Freedom has announced their bonus categories for the first quarter of 2015.

Background on Chase Freedom bonus categories

If you’re not aware, if you have the Chase Freedom card (I picked one up a few months ago), each quarter, there are specific categories that will earn you 5% for the duration of the quarter.

For 2014, the quarters are as below

This quarter (October – December 2014) your bonus categories are Amazon, Zappos, and select Department stores including Kohl’s and Sears among others.  If you have not yet activated your Q4 bonus, you can do so here.  You have until December 14 to activate the bonus.  As always, you are limited to bonus on $1500 of spend (7500 Ultimate Rewards points)

Chase Freedom Bonus Categories 2015

The 2015 Q1 (January – March) Chase Freedom bonus categories will be: Grocery stores, Starbucks and movie theaters.  Of those, grocery stores would seem to be the most lucrative, as there are plenty of gift cards and other manufactured spending opportunities at grocery stores.

10% checking bonus on purchases

Currently, if you have a Chase checking account, you get a 10% bonus on your accrued miles, but Chase has indicated that will go away as of 2015.  My original article indicated that in 2015 you would no longer be able to earn the 10% bonus, but Dan from Dans Deals pointed out in the comments that it is still active through the end of 2015.

Great no-fee card to keep your Chase Ultimate Rewards

I had a Chase Ink and Chase Sapphire card over the past year, but when their annual fees came due, I decided to cancel those cards and transfer my Ultimate Rewards points over to my Freedom card.

Chase Freedom signup bonus up to 20,000 Ultimate Rewards

If you don’t already have a Chase Freedom card, the signup bonus for the Chase Freedom is (back) up to 20,000 Ultimate Rewards (which Chase insists on calling $200).  I have a refer a friend link that gives me 5000 Ultimate Rewards if you are approved, which as far as I know is the same as the best public offer.  I’ve got other ways that you can support PWaC, if you’re dying to do so 😉
