You probably heard of that “deal of the year” the crazy 90,000 Avios promotion by Iberia less than two weeks ago. There was a lot of speculation at the time whether Iberia will honor this promotion, as the terms of the promotion were not entirely clear. Well, for those who decided to take the risk, the Avios are posting!

Avios are posting to old Iberia+ accounts

Accounts that are open prior to the promotions are seeing Avios being added. Iberia apparently is doing this in waves. My friend in Taiwan purchased his 10 tickets about the same time I did, although technically he was 15 hours ahead of me. And his Avios were posted on July 2. I purchased 9 tickets and my Avios were posted on July 3. But I am thrilled to see them there!

Issues with new Iberia+ accounts

I also created a new account during the promotion, and when I tried to log in yesterday, I got an error message. Following the advice I found on Flyertalk, I downloaded the Iberia app, and requested a PIN reset to receive an email for a new PIN. Five minutes later, I was able to log in without any issues. As of this moment, I am still waiting for Avios to show in this new account. Fingers crossed!

3 best ways to use 90,000 Avios

We wrote about the 3 best ways to use 90,000 Avios. If you are looking for flights on American Airline, follow the steps described in the post in order to find those AA award seats on Iberia website.

If you are short of Avios for a trip, you can transfer from British Airways Executive Club.  British Airways is a transfer partner with Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, and SPG programs. Transfer is instant from both Chase and American Express.

The terms of the promotion indicates that the 90,000 Avios cannot be transferred to BA Executive Club. But my friend had no issue of doing so, Depending on your needs, the BA award chart offers different great values and you can use BA Avios to your advantage for a family trip!

What’s your plan for the new Avios you just received?
