A few days ago I wrote about how American was partnering with Cadillac to offer 7500 American AAdvantage miles if you test-drive a Cadillac. At the time, we weren’t sure how it was going to work, but the offer is now live. From the press release on aa.com
Right now, AAdvantage® members can earn 7,500 AAdvantage miles when you test drive any Cadillac* vehicle, including the striking 2015 CTS sedan with available adaptive cruise control and available OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi®**. The available Wi-Fi® hotspot works inside your CTS and up to 50 feet away as long as your vehicle is on, while the 4G LTE allows you to use your laptop or tablet as a mobile office with a reliable connection.
Contact a Cadillac Concierge today at 844-469-2234 to schedule an appointment and participate in this exclusive limited time offer. Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive your AAdvantage miles.
*At participating dealers only. Must have an AAdvantage account and be 21 years or older with a valid U.S. driver’s license. Employees of General Motors are not eligible. Retail value: $221.00. Test drive lasts approximately 10 minutes. Offer valid while supplies last. Limit one test drive per person. Allow 4-6 weeks for miles to be awarded after confirmation that test drive has been completed. Offer is nontransferable, nonnegotiable and not redeemable for cash.
There have been reports of EXTREMELY long hold times trying to sign up, so with a hat tip to one of the commenters on View From the Wing, I went to cadillac.com and did a live chat. It took about 30 seconds to boot up and the conversation went a little something like this:
Lacee [5:56 PM]: Thank you so much for your assistance with the Cadillac and American Airlines AAdvantage Mileage Promotion, I have completed the registration!
Lacee [5:59 PM]: You should be all set, Dan. The dealership should follow up with you before the appointment
But will it work?
We’ll see… I went with a Monday appointment to hopefully give it a few days to flesh out with people posting their experiences over the weekend, so I might know what to expect when I go in. I’m also curious to see if multiple test-drives might work (official terms and conditions say no). At the very least, I’ll sign my wife up as well. The live chat option is even better there since she hates when I make her call places 🙂
I also love the “retail value” of $221 for 7500 miles. Uhhhh I don’t think so. Still, I do value them around ~$125, and like I said last time, I’ve done 7-10 similar test-drive offers before for less than that!!
