When shopping online, make sure you shop through an online shopping portal and earn extra miles. A great place to start is to look up earning rates through Cash Back Monitor. Â There is also a promotion going on with the United shopping portal for extra miles this Valentine’s Day

Gift card at Hotels.com:Â Spend $50 or more and receive $10 statement credit
Valid online only at www.hotels.com/giftcards and through 2/28/17.. This offer seems to be widely available. You can also tweet #AmexHotelsdotcom to enroll in the offer.
1-800-Flowers: Spend $50 or more and receive $15 statement credit
Offer valid online only through 3/31/2017. This offer seems to be targeted and only appeared in couple of my cards. But you can tweet #Amex1800Flowers if you don’t have this offer. Offer valid at 1800flowers.com, fanniemay.com, cheryls.com, thepopcornfactory.com, 1800baskets.com, fruitbouquets.com, and harrylondon.com, harryanddavid.com, wolfermans.com, stockyards.com, celebrations.com.
United MileagePlus shopping portal is currently paying out 30x per dollar purchases made with 1800Flowers. You can also earn additional bonus miles with the portal’s current Valentine’s Day promotion.
Swarovski: Spend $150 or more and receive $30 statement credit
Valid in store only through 3/15/17. Excludes authorized retailers, outlet locations, airport and cruise ship locations, wholesale purchases and events. Also excludes different brands/concepts within the “World of Swarovski”. You can also tweet #AmexSwarovski to enroll in the offer.
Ghirardelli: Spend $50 or more and receive $10 statement credit
Valid online only.
Lancôme: Spent $75 or more and receive $15 statement credit
This offer has been there for about a week. It is valid only online at Lancôme-usa.com through 4/23/17. While Lancôme sells gift cards online, I strongly advised against purchasing electronic gift cards. I tried twice last time when there was the same Amex Offer. Both times Lancôme cancelled my transactions after 48 hour wait and many phone calls! It was so frustrating that I no longer purchase from them and instead buy Lancôme products from department stores when there is 15x payout at Neiman Marcus or Saks 5th Avenue.
Petco.com: Spend $50 or more and receive $10 statement credit
Give your pet a Valentine’s Day toy, or save on your next pet food purchase. Valid only online through 4/30/17. You can tweet #AmexPetco to enroll in the offer. This offer comes quite often and I used it in the past to save on dog food for my French bulldog. E-Gift cards are excluded. But from my experience physical gift cards purchased online would trigger the credit.
There are a few other new Amex Offers such as one for Indeed.com (spend$100 or more and receive $100 statement credit through 5/31/2017, essentially zero cost). Check your account and see if any of them interest you.

Jen – Sorry you’ve had a bad experience with Amex. Personally my experience has been nothing but pleasant.
No offense, Jen. While I am sure your anger and pain are real, but since you fail to provide any specific reason(s) for your anguish, I must also chime in and say that I’ve received nothing but excellent service from American Express and my AMEX cards and will continue to use them.
Jen–I’ve been with AmEx since 1972 and had nothing but excellent service. That is my opinion. 🙂
