As you may or may not know, SPG and Emirates have a cross-brand partnership where members can earn points at Emirates for stays at Starwood hotels, and vice versa. The partnership has been live for about a year – View from the Wing has the scoop on how it works – but here’s the gist:
Starwood Gold and Platinum members receive 1 Starpoint per US dollar spent when flying Emirates in (in addition to miles earned for the flight itself).
- Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold, and Platinum members earn 1 bonus Skywards point per US dollar spent when staying with Starwood (in addition to the SPG points earned for the stay).
- Starwood Platinums receive elite priority check-in and boarding with Emirates and e-gate benefits
- Emirates Gold and Platinum members get priority check-in, late check-out, and free internet with Starwood.
500 bonus Starpoints when registering
I got an email from Starwood this morning saying that if you enroll by December 22, you can get 500 bonus Starpoints. Since there is no real downside to doing so, if you haven’t registered for World Rewards, I would recommend doing so
I wrote that the offer might be targeted because I’m not sure if it’s eligible for everyone. Certainly anyone can register for World Rewards, but I’m not sure if you’ll get 500 bonus Starpoints or not. You might try anyways?
After going to the SPG World Rewards link and logging in, I’m taken to the screen to enter in my Emirates Skywards number
Of course, I didn’t actually HAVE an Emirates Skywards membership number, so I had to go do that first :-). Naturally I added it to Award Wallet, my favorite tool for keeping track of my miles and points balances, and one of my Top 10 miles and points tools
I also registered Carolyn’s account, and I will check back in a few weeks to see if she got the 500 bonus points even though she was not targeted via email. My email said that the promotion ran through December 22nd.

You wrote “I wrote that the offer might be targeted because I’m not sure if it’s eligible for everyone”. Well, what does the Terms of Service say? You know if it’s targeted, instead you claim to act “blind-eye” innocent—-typical, liberal thought pattern, which is a mental disorder.
Well you know as well as I do that what companies SAY in their terms and conditions only occasionally has a bearing on what ACTUALLY happens in real life. It may be that if you did not get the email, you will not get the 500 bonus Starpoints. Only you can decide whether it’s worth your time
At least you put targeted in the title. That’s more than most bloggers who offer up “click bait” titles.
it works- i have the points posted to me account.
So it appears Jo above is a bit of a dick then, ah well I guess his family and colleagues are used to this (I wont say friends because do dickheads really have friends?).
