Hot off the presses of yesterday’s post about 10,000 American Express Membership Rewards for entering in Extended Pay, I wanted to remind you of a deal that I first wrote about last month, regarding getting 10,000 or 15,000 Hilton HHonors points for adding an authorized user to your American Express Hilton card (the no-fee kind). I wrote about it last month, but the deadline is July 20th (Wednesday), so if you didn’t see about it or didn’t sign up, now is the time!
I nearly missed this deal when it was originally posted, but thanks to Danny Deal Guru, I was able to successfully find and get 10,000 Hilton HHonors points for adding an authorized user to my American Express Hilton HHonors card (that’s the no-fee card). I was targeted for 10,000 points though some were targeted for 15,000. The terms do not say anything about any spending requirement for the authorized user, all you need is to add one to your card. I mentioned that it may be targeted, but if it is, it seems to be fairly widespread. There are 2 ways to find out if you’re eligible
Check your email
If you have an American Express Hilton card, you may have received an email. Like I said earlier, I looked for it earlier in the day, but couldn’t find it. I searched Amex, American Express, Hilton, HHonors, everything. Then I saw that it has a subject of “Spread the Word”, which let me find it
Option 2: Go to the American Express site
You can also check out the authorized user section of American Express’s own site – link. Once you log in, if you’re eligible, you’ll see something like the following
Note on the left the 10,000 bonus point mention. You will only get 10,000 points no matter how many authorized users you have, so unless you have a need, I’d just add the one.
If you have an American Express Hilton card, let me know if you were targeted and happy travels!

Thanks for the post – I had the offer in my account and would not have seen it otherwise!
Does Amex do a hard pull to your or the AU’s credit report for this?
Ah, the’re Hilton points, not real points.
LOL – while 10K Hilton points are indeed less than 10K Chase, Amex or many other points, they’re probably worth at least $40, which is not bad for essentially doing nothing. Or, you could use them for a free night at one of the sweetest Category 2 Hiltons I’ve stayed at.
So after I add the authorized user, there’s nothing else to do right? Like i don’t actually need to use the card? Thanks
That is my understanding
I added an AU; 10K points added to my account; the card hasn’t been used.
FYI, my offer was for 15K points. Thanks for pointing it out; I missed it.
Dang! Wish I had your offer 🙂 Glad to help!
Holy crap, thanks I had the email and had trashed it! As far as what it is worth, I agree on the cat 2 hotels. There is a Hampton Inn near Raleigh that is pretty new, in a really nice location, that is a cat 2. I stayed three nights on points and cash 4,000 points per night plus $35. I’ve actually been trying to book the same hotel though and can find no availability for points plus money. But the hotel is a great deal for 10,000, price usually ranges $119 to $159 per night.
Yeah – I did too! Glad I could help out!
Thanks for the heads up! I got a 10k offer
Interesting. Searched my email and only found the 10K offer for my Delta card, so it appears I was not targeted through email. I logged in under a separate tab and the offer was not there. So I followed your link to log in and the 10K offer was there! Thanks for the heads up!!
As someone asked earlier yesterday, would they be doing a hard pull on AU’s credit report since Amex is asking for all the information possible in the application form?
Now I worry about authorized user accounts for Chase apps!
Hi, will AMEX do a hard pull for the AU? – this is important now – thanks to CHASE’s new rules.
I see this keeps getting asked and I don’t know the answer.
This is strictly a targeted offer. I asked a chat on line agent for it and was politely but firmly turned down very quickly!
I’m targeted but get the following message when logging on :(: We are sorry, you are not able to apply for an Additional Card online. Please call the number on the back of your Card if you have additional inquiries.
does anyone know ~now~ whether there is any (soft or hard) pull on the AU?
I logged into my account and went to the additional user’s section, and no promo. But, used your link and the 10K bonus promo was there. Hopefully it works. Thanks!
It has been my wife and my experience that authorized users count against you in getting Chase cards. My wife was initially denied the CSP because she was an authorized user on to many cards.
Had to log in to see the offer . Thanks , saved a lot of trouble to get the same points!
Hi Dan,
I had the offer for 10k points on Hilton Amex card. Applied! NO HARD PULL!!
checked credit karma app and experian app after applying!
Thanks!! Hubby and I each had the 10K offer.
