(UPDATE – The Marriott MORE shopping portal has closed as of late 2018 –  but you can still earn Marriott points via Marriott.com)

In addition to paid travel and credit card sign-up bonuses, another great way to earn points is through shopping portals. For those of you who may not know, shopping portals give you additional points for buying products through them.

We’ve written many times about shopping portals, including a deal this morning for 3000 points through the Southwest shopping portal.  For nearly every purchase I make online, I try to go through a shopping portal, and they can be a good source of earning miles and points for purchases you were already planning on making

Marriott Rewards MORE portal

Until now, almost all of the online shopping portals had been run by the same company (Cartera), which explains why they seem to all have the same or similar promotions at the same time.  Now we have the introduction of the Marriott Rewards MORE shopping portal, which is run by a separate company (Engage People)

Marriott MORE is initially available only in the US, UK and Canada and is accessible on the web or Apple and Android apps

Marriott MORE shopping portal retailers

There are currently 29 retailers available in the US, including Amazon (1 Amazon point per $1 spent), Best Buy, Macy’s and more

You also get a 25% bonus if you pay for the purchase with a Marriott Rewards card.  The press release I got said that you can also use Marriott points to pay for purchases at retailers but that is almost certainly not going to be a good use of your points

Marriott MORE browser extension

The Marriott MORE also has a Chrome browser extension that you can use, that will alert you if you are on a website where you can earn points.  This is similar to the browser extension for the Southwest Airlines shopping portal

Bonus points for your first purchase

With the introduction of the Marriott MORE portal, they are also announcing a bonus of 1000 points for your first purchase of at least $25

The Amazon partnership is intriguing, though lags behind the 3x points through the JetBlue portal

Good luck and happy shopping!
