As Citi and Hilton prepare to part ways, it should be expected that every link between the programs would need to be severed. We’ve already seen the announcement regarding the conversion of existing Citi Hilton credit cards to American Express cards, as well as the stunning, refreshed lineup of American Express Hilton cards.

I didn’t even consider the fact that Hilton Honors is a Citi ThankYou transfer partner. And it looks like exclusive really does mean exclusive, so Citi won’t even be hanging onto this partnership.

Say goodbye to TYP transfer to Hilton Honors

According to Doctor of Credit, the Honors program will be removed from the ThankYou point transfer portal after December 13. This really isn’t a big loss, as there are much more valuable ways to use your hard-earned ThankYou points, such as flying around the world in business class using the Asia Miles program (SEE: 6 best uses of Asia Miles). The transfer rate is currently (and typically) 1:1.5, in increments of 1,000. Considering that Hilton points are barely valued at 0.5 cents each, you are really only getting 0.75 cents per ThankYou points.

However, if you’re interested in topping off your Honors point balance and have some stray ThankYou points lying around, you may want to make sure you transfer within the next couple weeks.
