Last week, Air Canada announced strategic plan to expand its international network out of Vancouver, including the launch of three new nonstop routes.

New and expanded services from Vancouver

Air Canada plans to launch three new nonstop international services, as well as increased services on two existing routes

  • New nonstop services to Paris and Zurich, starting June 2018
  • Year-round service to Melbourne, Australia, starting June 2018 (currently seasonal from December to February)
  • Increased services to Delhi to five times weekly
  • Twice-daily flight to London for summer 2018

With the launch of flights to Paris and Zurich, Air Canada will be flying non-stop from Vancouver to a total of five European destinations next summer! Melbourne is the third Australia destination for Air Canada. The new routes are wonderful news to folks living on West Coast, as

New routes will be served on 787 Dreamliner

The new services to Paris, Zurich and Melbourne will be using Air Canada’s 787 Dreamliner, featuring 20 lie-flat business class seats, 21 premium economy seats and 210 regular economy class seats

The pictures look fantastic! For west coast travelers seeking premium travel experience on long oversea routes, Air Canada’s 787 seems to be a solid option. With United Airlines not releasing many business class seats from the west coast. Air Canada provides a good alternative for redeeming United miles.

However, I searched for award availability on nonstop flight to London next June and July. There is only one day that has two business class seats in the entire two months!

It will be interesting to see how much award seats Air Canada will release on its new routes.
