Delta just launched its monthly Skymiles flash sales, this time between select U.S. cities to South America. You can read complete details here.
The sale
- Main Cabin starting at 50,000 miles round trip (plus taxes and fees);
- Delta One starting at 105,000 miles round trip (plus taxes and fees);
- Sale valid for two days, until 11:59pm EST on April 19, 2017;
- Travel between August 1 through November 16, 2017;
- Must book on Delta.com directly.
- Destinations include select cities in Peru, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina, where Delta operates nonstop services from Atlanta.
Availability is limited
I decided to look up availability for two people between Atlanta and Santiago Chile (SCL) using Delta’s low fare calendar. Very few dates are available for two people.
Do you have any luck finding availability to any of the four countries in South America?

I’ve noticed Delta does this: Whenever they do a devaluation they also run a couple of flash sales which are great deals but not something that 99% of flyers could ever use. Just distractions from the fact that your miles are now worth 20% less.
The Delta One price is the sweet spot in this I think. Delta has convinced us that 50k round trip in economy to South America for a “flash” sale is better than 35-40k rt on AA or 40k’ish on United all the time. I can even find some United business class seats at 70k or AA at 60k to some areas and certain times
Sorry to be negative I just keep finding less and less value in Delta. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve been crediting my Air France Euro flights to Flying Blue instead.
